The fire, which began on Friday, has rapidly expanded over the weekend, now consuming approximately 30 square kilometers – an area comparable in size to the city of Haarlem. This follows earlier evacuations of parts of the Belgian towns of Sourbrodt and Bütgenbach on Saturday, impacting around 600 people. Authorities cite the fire's progression as the primary cause for concern, leading to the precautionary measures on both sides of the border.
