A Hamburg court has sentenced two German men to up to ten years in prison for the kidnapping and torture of a Dutch man. The victim was held captive for eight days, confined to a bathtub with a hood over his head, as part of a scheme to lure another individual involved in drug-related debts. The perpetrators, aged 25 and 27, intended to use the Dutch man to locate a debtor who owed a substantial sum of money. They were promised quick financial gain – 10,000 euros each – for successfully bringing the debtor to Germany, but their plan failed. During his captivity, the victim endured severe mistreatment, including being deprived of food and water, and subjected to physical abuse. He eventually escaped while his guard was asleep and sought help from neighbors, leading to the arrest of the kidnappers. A third man involved in the case was previously sentenced to twelve years in prison, suggesting a larger network of perpetrators.
