A serious road accident in the Central River region of Gambia on Saturday morning resulted in seven fatalities and multiple injuries. The collision occurred around 5:40 AM near YBK when a Sprinter van carrying 26 passengers and goods, traveling from the Kombos to Guinea-Conakry, collided with a parked tanker truck. Authorities confirm seven passengers died instantly, while several others sustained injuries and were initially treated at Bansang Hospital. Four critically injured individuals were transferred to Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul for further medical care. Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash and have expressed condolences to the families of the victims. Authorities are urging increased road safety awareness and shared responsibility among all road users.
