A 68-year-old French tourist died of heatstroke in Death Valley National Park, California, after becoming stranded with a travel companion. The pair experienced car trouble in a remote area and attempted to walk for help under scorching temperatures exceeding 47 degrees Celsius (117 Fahrenheit). After walking two kilometers, the tourist succumbed to the extreme heat while his companion continued on and located a passing motorist. Park rangers later discovered the man’s body after being alerted by the surviving tourist and park visitors. Death Valley is known as one of the hottest and driest places in North America, with summer temperatures frequently surpassing 45 degrees Celsius. Authorities advise visitors to carry ample water, stay with their vehicles if stranded, and be aware of limited cell service within the park.
