Located in Landivisiau, Brittany, a French naval air base has served as the home of French carrier aviation since the 1960s. This crucial base is where France’s carrier-based fighter pilots receive their training. Currently, the installation houses three squadrons of Rafale fighter jets. Referred to locally as the “granite aircraft carrier” due to its land-based nature and solid infrastructure, the base plays a vital role in maintaining France’s naval air power. It provides a unique environment for pilots to prepare for operations at sea. The base continues to be a strategically important location for the French navy.
