A newly formed joint operational unit comprised of Italian Carabinieri and French Gendarmerie has been deployed for the first time at the G7 summit in Evian, France. Forty officers from both forces are participating in the security operation. This deployment marks the initial utilization of the Franco-Italian Unit of Intervention Force (Uofi), established to enhance cross-border collaboration. The Uofi aims to streamline security responses and improve coordination between the two nations’ law enforcement agencies. The unit’s presence at the G7 summit underscores the commitment of France and Italy to joint security efforts during high-profile international events. This collaborative approach is intended to provide a more robust and unified security presence. The deployment is focused on maintaining order and responding to potential security threats during the summit.
