Protests by students in France have escalated, leading to disruptions in education across the country. Education Minister Édouard Geffroy announced that approximately 500 schools were partially or fully closed on Monday due to ongoing clashes between students and police. Around 400-500 high schools have suspended classes due to safety concerns, and 24 schools have experienced arson and looting since the beginning of the protests. The demonstrations, which began in Paris last week over education standards, have spread to cities including Montpellier, Nantes, and Marseille. Authorities report that 735 of France's 3,700 schools have been affected by the protests, with 78 education staff injured. The Minister also warned that the number of impacted schools may be similar to Friday’s figures, while pledging a phased resumption of classes, and expressed concern over the influence of far-left activists.
