France’s national weather service, Météo-France, announced a downgrade in heatwave alert levels for a significant portion of the country. Thirteen departments, stretching from Aisne to Yonne, will move from the highest “red” alert to “orange” on Saturday evening. This easing of restrictions indicates a lessening of the immediate danger posed by extreme temperatures. On Sunday morning, an additional sixteen departments, including the Paris region and areas from Allier to Territoire de Belfort, will also be downgraded to “orange” alert. Finally, the departments of Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin are expected to follow suit on Sunday evening. The shift signifies a predicted decrease in temperatures across these regions, though vigilance remains advised.
