US Defense Minister Pete Hegseth announced that the planned execution of Nidal Hasan, the Fort Hood shooter, will be “public.” CBS News reported this information following an interview with Hegseth on Real America’s Voice. An unnamed source within the US Department of Defense stated the execution will also be streamed online, according to multiple US media outlets. It remains unclear whether access will be limited to select individuals or available to the general public, as reported by Axios. Prior to the announcement on Thursday, families of those killed in the 2009 Fort Hood massacre were asked about their preference for attending the execution in person or viewing it digitally. Nidal Hasan was sentenced to death in 2013 by a military jury for the mass shooting that occurred on November 5, 2009, at Fort Hood. US President Donald Trump recently approved the execution of the former military psychiatrist by firing squad, scheduled for December 3rd at Fort Hood.
