Former Senegalese Minister of Youth, Pape Malick Ndour, has been provisionally released from prison after over a month in detention. The release, granted by the Financial Crimes Court, follows a request from his defense team. Ndour was initially arrested in May and had previously been under electronic surveillance as part of the ongoing investigation into the Prodac agricultural program. He faces charges of criminal association, embezzlement of public funds, and money laundering related to alleged financial irregularities totaling 2.7 billion CFA francs. While released, Ndour will again be subject to electronic monitoring as a judicial control measure. The case has seen back-and-forth rulings, with the Public Prosecutor initially seeking his continued detention, and the Supreme Court ultimately upholding that decision in April. The investigation and legal proceedings are still ongoing.
