Rodolfo Rohrmoser Valdeavellano, a prominent Guatemalan jurist, has died. He served on the Constitutional Court (CC) in 1993 and played a pivotal role in declaring Jorge Serrano Elías’s 1993 attempted self-coup – known as the “Serranazo” – unconstitutional. This decision was critical in restoring democratic order following Serrano’s attempt to dissolve Congress and suspend the constitution.
