Indonesia’s Attorney General’s Office (AGO) will examine former Deputy Head of the State Asset Management Agency (BGN), Sony Sonjaya, next week. This follows Sonjaya’s application to become a justice collaborator – essentially a plea deal – in a corruption investigation. The case centers on alleged corruption in the management of the State Asset Management Program (MBG). Becoming a justice collaborator could potentially lessen Sonjaya’s sentence in exchange for providing substantial assistance to investigators. The AGO will assess the validity and completeness of Sonjaya’s information before deciding on his status. The examination will determine if his cooperation meets the requirements for a reduced penalty. Further details regarding the alleged corruption within the MBG program are expected to emerge during the investigation.
