Two foreign nationals, one Dutch and one Venezuelan, have alleged a harrowing ordeal of kidnapping, extortion, and assault during a recent visit to Pakistan. The women testified before a judicial magistrate, detailing a multi-day captivity following their arrival on June 26th, invited by a local business partner met in Singapore. They were reportedly lured to a residence in Lahore under false pretenses where they were then seized by armed men. Authorities have registered a case including charges of rape and kidnapping for extortion, with five suspects now implicated. Four suspects, including a relative of a prominent political figure, have been arrested and are in police custody. The victims allege a million-dollar ransom was demanded during their captivity, which ended with their rescue by police.
