Consumer advocacy group Deco Proteste identified significant price increases in several key items between June 10th and 17th. Cereal flakes saw the largest jump, increasing by 18%, followed by fresh horse mackerel (carapau) at 16%. Frisée lettuce prices also rose notably, increasing by 12% during the same period. This increase interrupts a period where the cost of essential food items had been gradually decreasing, impacting household budgets. Deco Proteste regularly monitors the prices of a representative basket of goods to track cost of living changes for Portuguese consumers.
