A severe storm in the Caucasus Mountains of Russia has claimed the lives of five climbers attempting to summit Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe. The group of seven foreign climbers, all from Bosnia and Herzegovina, began their ascent on Friday but lost their way as weather conditions rapidly deteriorated. Two bodies have been recovered at an altitude of 5350 meters, following the rescue of two others earlier. Recovery efforts for the remaining three are hampered by challenging weather conditions. The cause of death remains unclear, though illness is suspected. Bosnia’s Foreign Minister Konakovic described the incident as a "great tragedy," noting the victims included a couple and a local doctor.
