A fire erupted in the urology ward of Khalifa Gul Nawaz Teaching Hospital in Bannu on Monday morning, but fortunately, no casualties were reported. Rescue 1122 swiftly responded to the emergency call, arriving at the hospital within five minutes, and contained the blaze in approximately ten minutes. Hospital spokesperson Mohammad Noman stated the fire, which began around 10am, was likely caused by an electric spark, and patients were promptly evacuated by staff and rescue teams. This incident follows recent hospital fires in Pakistan, including a tragic one at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) in Islamabad that resulted in the deaths of 14 infants, and another at Sheikh Zayed Medical College Hospital (SZMCH) in Rahim Yar Khan, Punjab. Staff at the Bannu hospital recently underwent specialized fire emergency training, which proved crucial in effectively managing the situation and preventing further escalation. The swift response and coordinated efforts minimized potential damage, highlighting the importance of preparedness in such emergencies.
