New statistics from the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) reveal significant regional differences in beer consumption across Finland. The municipality of Utsjoki, located in Finnish Lapland, reports the highest per capita beer sales in the country. Conversely, Saltvik, in the Åland Islands, reports the lowest. Utsjoki also holds the title of Finland’s “wettest” municipality, leading the nation in overall alcohol sales per resident, including beer, wine, spirits, cider, and mixed drinks. The data provides a snapshot of alcohol purchasing habits across different regions of Finland. These findings are based on recent THL analysis of sales data.
