Finland is experiencing a dramatic increase in reported sightings of both bears and lynx. Confirmed bear sightings have tripled in the past two years, reaching nearly 19,000 this year. This figure significantly surpasses the 13,000 reports received during the same period last year. Wildlife experts at the Finnish Wildlife Game and Fisheries Management Institute confirm the exceptional nature of these observations. Olli Kursula, the institute’s head of wildlife management, described the numbers as “exceptional.” The reasons behind this surge in sightings are currently under investigation, but the increased reports indicate a notable change in wildlife patterns.
