A recent joint survey by Finnish and Norwegian authorities has resulted in a minor adjustment to the border between the two countries. The change occurred along the Tenojoki River, specifically within the riverbed itself. A border commission from both nations conducted comprehensive fieldwork, meticulously measuring and verifying all 209 border markers along the stretch. The National Land Survey of Finland announced the alteration following the completion of the border demarcation process. This adjustment reflects natural changes within the river’s course and ensures accurate mapping of the international boundary. The alteration is described as slight and does not represent a significant territorial change. The process reaffirms ongoing cooperation in border management between Finland and Norway.
