Families of those killed during the July movement in Bangladesh are urging Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to initiate visible justice for the victims. They made the plea at a memorial event held in Dhaka on Saturday, organized by “July 24 Shahid Paribar” (Families of July Martyrs) and “Amra Julyyoddha” (We are July Fighters). Speakers emphasized that a trial addressing the massacre is crucial for dismantling the current fascist system. The families believe that accountability for the killings is essential to establish rule of law. They are seeking concrete steps towards prosecution and closure for the families affected. The event served as a platform for remembrance and a renewed call for justice for the July movement’s victims. Without addressing this past violence, achieving true democratic progress will remain elusive, they stated.
