Czech road authorities are alerting the public to a surge in fraudulent text messages demanding immediate payment for alleged speeding fines. The texts, falsely claiming to be from the Road Transport Inspectorate (INSID) or the police, threaten penalties if not paid by a specific deadline. Reports of the scam began surfacing Thursday afternoon, prompting INSID to issue a public warning. Authorities advise recipients not to respond to the messages and to report the incidents to the police. The texts are designed to deceive individuals into making payments for non-existent violations. INSID spokesperson Monika Balšánková confirmed the increase in reported cases to the Czech Press Agency. Drivers are urged to remain vigilant against such phishing attempts.
