A complaint filed in Mbour, Senegal, regarding an attempted extortion has spiraled into a complex investigation revealing previously undisclosed relationships between those involved. Lamine Faye, 25, initially claimed he was threatened with blackmail – images of him taken during a staged encounter – for 200,000 FCFA. However, initial questioning revealed a personal connection between Faye and the two suspects who admitted to demanding money. Further investigation led to medical tests, including a HIV test, which reportedly came back positive for Faye. This discovery prompted investigators to broaden the scope of the inquiry, focusing on individuals linked to the case in the Dakar area, with three individuals already identified. The case, initially presented as a simple extortion attempt, now involves potential public health concerns and a web of personal connections.
