Security forces initiated an exercise this morning focused on reinstating controls on the state border with Slovakia. Police do not anticipate major traffic disruptions as a result of the drills. The exercise will concentrate on 27 former border crossings – 17 road, seven rail, and three river crossings. Officers will also randomly patrol the “green border” areas and conduct checks on international train routes. The operation aims to prepare for potential increases in border security measures. The drill simulates a return to systematic border checks, previously removed with Slovakia’s entry into the Schengen Area. This exercise tests the readiness of the police to manage and implement these controls effectively.
