Retired Nigerian military officers have cautioned against attributing the country’s escalating insecurity to any single region, specifically the North. The group, associated with the late Major General Rabe Abubakar, stated that terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping have become nationwide problems. During a press briefing in Kaduna, they emphasized that these criminal activities now impact all areas of Nigeria, not just the North. The officers warned against “ethnicising” the issue, arguing it hinders effective solutions. They believe focusing on regional blame distracts from the need for a unified national response to combat the growing threats. The group’s statement aims to promote a more comprehensive and inclusive approach to addressing insecurity across the country.
