A severe heatwave is gripping Europe, with temperatures nearing or exceeding 40°C across many regions. Germany is experiencing widespread temperatures around 40°C, potentially reaching 42°C in some areas, according to the national meteorological service (DWD). Slovakia is also affected by the extreme heat. Denmark has already broken a national temperature record. An estimated 193 million Europeans are facing temperatures above 35°C on Saturday. The heatwave is currently shifting from Western Europe towards the northeast.
