A group of 122 Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) are intensifying calls for the European Union to utilize frozen Russian assets to provide further support to Kyiv. The push comes as Ukraine prepares for a challenging winter and faces a significant €23 billion shortfall in defense funding. These assets, totaling over €200 billion, are currently immobilized and MEPs believe they should be repurposed to bolster Ukraine’s capacity to defend itself. This cross-party effort signals growing frustration within the EU over the slow pace of mobilizing funds for Ukraine. The lawmakers argue this is a crucial step to ensuring Ukraine's continued resistance and future reconstruction.
