European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas has requested the United States provide justification for recently imposed tariffs on goods originating from the EU. Kallas stated the EU is following up on the transatlantic trade agreement entered into last year, but questions the new levies. The tariffs, introduced by the Trump administration, range from 10 to 12.5 percent and affect goods from 60 countries globally. Norway is among the nations facing the highest tariff rates. Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide expressed his disagreement with the tariffs, asserting there is no basis for their implementation. This move signals growing concern within the EU regarding US trade policies and potential disruption to international commerce.
