A new documentary by filmmaker Boaz Dvir highlights the previously unacknowledged contribution of Michel Cojot to the success of the 1976 Entebbe raid. Cojot, a French-Jewish hostage, possessed crucial knowledge of the terminal layout and security arrangements at the Ugandan airport. The film argues that the Israeli rescue operation, which freed nearly all of the hijacked Air France passengers, would likely have failed without Cojot’s intelligence. Before the hijacking, Cojot had attempted to assassinate a former Nazi official. His background and understanding of security protocols proved invaluable during the crisis. The documentary aims to correct the historical record and recognize Cojot’s bravery and vital role in the operation, fifty years after the event. It sheds light on a lesser-known aspect of the internationally renowned rescue mission.
