The Enga Provincial Government in Papua New Guinea has allocated K500,000 (approximately $140,000 USD) to support coffee production within the province. This funding will be distributed equally among eight coffee cooperative societies operating across Enga’s six districts. Each cooperative will receive K50,000 to aid in their operations and expansion efforts. Representatives from the cooperatives – located in Wapenamanda, Tsak, Lower Lai, Ambum, Komiam, Wabag, and Porgera – met earlier this week to report on current production levels and future plans. The funding is intended to bolster coffee output and support the implementation of a five-year strategic plan for the Enga coffee industry. Dr. Londari Yamarak, Deputy Provincial Administrator for Economic Services, announced the approval of the funds. The initiative aims to strengthen the local coffee economy through cooperative development.
