Bangladesh’s Election Commission (EC) is initiating a year-round process to remove deceased voters from the electoral rolls. The first phase of this effort will involve a door-to-door survey to gather information on recently deceased citizens. This initiative aims to create a more accurate voter list and ensure the integrity of future elections. Following the initial survey, the EC will also collect data from local officials such as watchmen and religious leaders to corroborate information. The commission intends to maintain this data-collection process continuously throughout the year. This move is a proactive step towards streamlining the voter database and preventing potential irregularities. Details of the plan were revealed by EC sources on Tuesday, June 16th.
