Eighteen supporters of Ajax Amsterdam were arrested in Split, Croatia, according to reports from Croatian media. Images and videos circulating on social media show the arrests taking place at a terrace in the center of Split, with the individuals being transported away in police vans. Authorities reportedly found weapons on the Ajax fans and also noted stone blocks on the tables. Croatian authorities stated the arrests were a preventative measure to avoid clashes between Ajax supporters and fans of Hajduk Split ahead of their Conference League match. Ajax had previously warned its fans about potential safety risks, citing the passionate and potentially reactive nature of Hajduk Split’s fanbase. The match between Ajax and Hajduk Split is scheduled to take place tomorrow at 18:45 local time.
