The East African Community (EAC) is focusing on increasing youth participation in agriculture throughout the region. This initiative involves implementing new regional policies designed to support young people entering the agricultural sector. A key component is improving access to agribusiness opportunities for youth across the EAC. The EAC also plans to establish a national youth coordination platform to facilitate collaboration and resource sharing. This work aims to fulfill the goals outlined in the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) Kampala Declaration. Ultimately, these efforts hope to transform the EAC's agricultural landscape by attracting and retaining a younger generation of farmers and entrepreneurs. The initiative underscores the EAC’s commitment to sustainable agricultural development.
