Russia’s ambassador to the Netherlands, Vladimir Tarabrin, revealed that Forum for Democratie (FvD) is currently the only Dutch political party maintaining contact with Russia. This connection persists despite a significant downturn in relations between Russia and the broader international community. FvD representatives characterize the ongoing communication as a standard element of diplomatic practice. The revelation comes as most other nations have severed or significantly limited ties with Moscow following its actions in Ukraine. Tarabrin indicated he personally extended an invitation to FvD, suggesting a direct line of communication remains open. This situation highlights FvD’s unique position within the Dutch political landscape regarding its relationship with Russia. The continued contact raises questions about the party’s foreign policy stance.
