A 50-year-old man from Amersfoort has been sentenced to 120 hours of community service for posting a barrage of racist, inciting, and threatening messages in a public Telegram group. The judge expressed disbelief at the ease with which such harmful statements are made online, while the defendant admitted to making "disgusting" remarks. Over nine months, the man repeatedly shared extremist views within the right-wing Telegram group "Het Kantelpunt," expressing racist sentiments and referring to people of color as "stinkvolk." He also incited violence against journalists, politicians, police officers, and even called for harm to specific individuals, including a mayor and political leaders. The man claimed his behavior stemmed from frustration over a past assault, but acknowledged becoming addicted to the online echo chamber. He submitted letters of apology as part of the proceedings.
