The Dutch company Pal-V has received permission to produce flying cars, bringing the concept closer to reality. These vehicles are primarily designed for transporting people, with potential applications for emergency services needing rapid access to remote areas. The first flying cars are anticipated to be airborne in 2028, though widespread adoption in the Netherlands remains uncertain according to experts. The concept of flying cars dates back to 1842, but technical complexities and regulatory hurdles have historically hampered development. Pal-V has been working towards this goal since 2020, gaining road approval from the Rijksdienst voor het Wegverkeer (RDW) and now, crucial approval from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Production is set to begin shortly, followed by further testing to ensure compliance with all regulations, with an estimated timeframe of another 1.5 years before the vehicles are fully operational.
