A 20-year-old man from Hilversum has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the October 2024 shooting death of a 21-year-old man at Sportpark Crailoo in Hilversum. The court determined the killing was a deliberate and cold-blooded execution. The victim, Ozan Alakus from Amsterdam, was sitting in a car with his girlfriend when the defendant, Thommy S., drove up and opened fire, shooting fourteen times. Alakus died from his injuries while his girlfriend escaped unharmed. Investigators believe a failed drug deal, involving a 600 euro loss for the defendant, may have been a motive, though the victim’s direct involvement wasn’t proven. Despite the defense arguing for youth sentencing and suggesting other potential threats against the victim, forensic evidence linking S. to the shooting – including gunshot residue on his clothing and in his car – led to the conviction. The defendant remained silent throughout the proceedings.
