Pop star Dua Lipa is establishing a branch of the Manifesto Library in Portugal, dedicated to housing books that have faced bans or censorship globally. The library, a project initially founded by Marina Abramović, aims to promote access to literature often suppressed due to political or social reasons. Located in Lisbon, the new space will offer a curated collection of these challenged works, fostering dialogue and intellectual freedom. Lipa expressed her commitment to safeguarding stories and voices that are at risk of being silenced. The Manifesto Library project currently has locations in London and New York, with the Portugal branch expanding its reach. This initiative underscores the importance of protecting artistic expression and ensuring diverse perspectives remain accessible to the public. The library is expected to open its doors later this year.
