The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo has escalated, now affecting a sixth province after a death was confirmed in Bas-Uele. This expansion follows a case involving a man who travelled from Haut-Uele province, raising concerns about further spread. Health officials warn this outbreak is on course to become the deadliest on record, potentially surpassing the 2000-2001 outbreak that claimed over 11,000 lives. Jean Kaseya, director general of Africa CDC, confirmed the new fatality occurred in Buta, the capital of Bas-Uele.
