The proposed initiatives aim to establish a National Ambulance Service (NAS) and a National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA). Dr. Yockopua describes these changes as a long-overdue necessity that requires nationwide backing. Having previously served at Port Moresby General Hospital and St. John Ambulance PNG, he brings significant expertise to his endorsement. He believes these reforms will create a modern, government-led emergency response system. This new framework will be supported by official legislation and national policies. Additionally, the system will implement standard operating procedures and clear governance arrangements to improve emergency care.
