Disney’s live-action adaptation of “Moana” has been released to a largely underwhelming reception. Critics describe the film as overly faithful to the animated original, resulting in a lack of originality and excitement. Rather than building upon the beloved story, the remake is deemed "bland and unnecessary." The film doesn't appear to recapture the magic that made the 2016 animated version so popular with audiences. While not inherently *bad*, the live-action “Moana” struggles to justify its own existence. Ultimately, the new film fails to offer a compelling reason for fans to revisit the story in live-action.
