A senior engineer with Bangladesh’s Water Development Board and his wife have been denied bail and sent to jail in Dhaka, following allegations of murdering their 13-year-old domestic worker. Rikia Moni reportedly fell to her death from the 11th floor of their Dhanmondi apartment building. The couple, Sabibur Rahman and Farah Nusrat, were arrested after a case was filed accusing them of the crime. Dhaka’s Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam rejected their bail application on Monday, June 22nd. Details surrounding the circumstances of the fall are under investigation, with authorities pursuing the case as a homicide.
