Bangladesh’s Road Transport, Bridges, Shipping, and Railways Minister Sheikh Rubiul Alam has announced that the Gabtoli, Mohakhali, Sayedabad, and Fulbaria inter-district bus terminals in Dhaka will be relocated outside the capital city over the next two to two-and-a-half years. The minister revealed this information during a dialogue organized by the Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters Forum (BSRF) on Thursday. He explained that the current bus terminals have largely become depots and workshops, necessitating the move. The relocation aims to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion within Dhaka. The process will be phased, with each terminal moved sequentially. Minister Alam did not provide specific details regarding the new locations for the terminals during the briefing. This initiative represents a significant infrastructural change for the city’s transportation network.
