Over 75% of ticket holders for the cancelled Defqon.1 hardstyle festival have opted to retain their tickets for the next edition, according to organizer Q-Dance. The festival, held in Biddinghuizen, was cancelled in late June due to a red heat warning issued by the Dutch meteorological institute, KNMI, despite tens of thousands of visitors already camping on site. Attendees were offered the choice between a refund or a free ticket for the following year, covering both day and weekend passes. With such a high rate of ticket retention, less than a quarter of tickets will be available for sale in October. Q-Dance expressed gratitude for the continued trust and loyalty of its attendees, who travel from around the world – including as far as Australia – to attend. Some international visitors voiced frustration online, arguing they are accustomed to high temperatures and didn't believe the heat warranted cancellation.
