A fatal explosion at the Barzan gas terminal in Qatar has left at least 13 people dead and 66 others injured. Energy Minister Saad al-Kaab confirmed the incident occurred during preparations to reopen the facility on the Ras Laffan industrial site. Officials have explicitly ruled out sabotage or an attack, attributing the blast to a technical problem. The terminal had previously been shut down and suffered significant damage from an Iranian airstrike in March. An official investigation into the exact cause of the accident is currently underway. Despite the severity of the blast, the government stated that domestic gas supplies and exports remain unaffected. Furthermore, authorities confirmed that no hazardous substances were released into the environment.
