Unusually low water levels in Budapest’s Danube River have revealed remnants of World War II, hidden for approximately 80 years. Recovery teams discovered the remains of two Wehrmacht soldiers, along with their identification discs, near Batthyány Square. A remarkably preserved German military motorcycle was also found at the site, alongside anti-tank mines and other wartime artifacts. The discovery occurred as the Danube reached historically low levels, exposing previously submerged items. Authorities hope the recovered identity discs will lead to the identification of the soldiers. These findings offer a rare glimpse into the final days of fighting in Budapest during WWII and could shed light on the historical events of that period.
