A parliamentary inquiry in Dakar has uncovered a potentially fraudulent land deal involving Ad Immobilier, a company controlled by the Israeli Peretz family, who previously benefited from arms contracts under the former government. The state allegedly ceded valuable city center land – including the former national gendarmerie headquarters, the National Archives, and the national dojo – to Ad Immobilier in exchange for the construction of a new gendarmerie headquarters. However, assessments revealed the land’s value at 9 billion FCFA, exceeding the 5 billion FCFA cost of the intended construction. Sogepa then offered to reimburse Ad Immobilier the 5 billion FCFA and reclaim the land for a real estate project with the CDC. The deal stalled when Ousmane Sonko left his position as Prime Minister, leading to concerns about the fairness and transparency of the transaction in Dakar.
