The head of the Czech National Counter-Terrorism, Extremism and Cybercrime Centre (NCTEKK) reports a worsening security situation in Czech schools, with increasing threats and attacks by students. Břetislav Brejcha highlighted the agency’s involvement in addressing these incidents, extending beyond traditional terrorism concerns. He cited recent cases including an arson attack in Pardubice, a planned synagogue attack by a youth extremist group, and Ukrainian-based fraud operations as examples of the diverse threats NCTEK addresses. Brejcha emphasized that parents are the weakest link in preventing school violence, suggesting a need for increased parental involvement and awareness. The NCTEKK is broadening its focus to encompass a wider range of security risks affecting young people. The director’s comments underscore growing concerns about safety within the Czech education system and the need for a multi-faceted approach to address the issue.
