Czech Scouts commemorated the 150th anniversary of the birth of Antonín Benjamin Svojsík, the founder of the scouting movement in the Czech lands, on Saturday. The organization has seen increasing interest in membership over the past two decades. Currently, Skaut – the Czech scouting organization – boasts 80,000 members nationwide, including 50,000 children. This growth in popularity is leading to challenges for some local groups, as existing clubhouses are becoming too small to accommodate the rising numbers. Consequently, several scouting groups are relocating to larger and more modern facilities to meet the demands of their expanding membership. The continued growth signals a strong future for the scouting movement in the Czech Republic.
