Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš is reportedly seeking European Union funding to supply Ukraine with ten L-39NG Skyfox training fighter jets. According to the Ukrainian Defense Express portal, Babiš intends to propose this initiative alongside Ukrainian officials to European partners. The proposal specifically targets nations that have already provided F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. The aim is to bolster the Ukrainian air force’s capabilities with the Czech-made training aircraft. The L-39NG Skyfox is a modern, upgraded version of the L-39, designed for training and light attack roles. This initiative seeks to leverage existing European military aid efforts to provide Ukraine with additional air support resources. Details regarding the cost and logistical aspects of the proposal have not yet been disclosed.
