Current low natural gas prices offered to Czech households through fixed-rate contracts are unlikely to last. Experts predict significant price increases for new customers, potentially exceeding 25%. This rise in costs could translate to hundreds or even thousands of Czech koruna annually for consumers, depending on their usage. The current price of around 1,000 CZK per megawatt-hour is considered unsustainable by suppliers. The anticipated price hikes will impact new contracts, while existing fixed-rate agreements will remain unchanged until their expiration. Consumers are advised to prepare for higher energy bills in the near future as the market adjusts.
